This is an article about the development of trade in Mesopotamia. I did a project on trade in Mesopotamia and I had presented my research on paper. Some topics which will be covered up in the following paragraphs are the benefits and disadvantages of trade, the goods that were traded and finally how can I connect trade to present day.
Something that affects each country or group after a trade is what they are getting and selling. Mesopotamia would get a lot of natural resources and sell the more valuable items to foreign cities. I think this would help Mesopotamia because they would always be short on needed resources and they would have plentiful of valuable resources, and using some of the valuable items to trade is very good. If Mesopotamia hadn’t trade it’s valuable resources, civilians would potentially not have the right amount of needs and Mesopotamia would maybe be a very horrible place.
Trade benefitted Mesopotamia by, making them get new ideas. For example, Mesopotamia would have new food, materials, languages, and many more. They would import gold from Egypt, cedar from Egypt and many more. With this, Mesopotamians thought of more innovations such as Cuneiform and new laws. Trading was huge to Mesopotamia which led to making their economy shine. Unfortunately, with the competition in the world it caused many cruel things such as conflict and war, and the fall of many civilizations.
In conclusion, trade was a huge impact in Mesopotamia. Trade is similar in present day, because we still trade in the present world. Trade was so important back in the day, that it is even more important today. We also have the same materials that we traded before. For example gold, cedar, clothing, etc. Trade is important because goods we own are not made here and more trading would be required.
